This page explains what The Flying Spoon collects through this website and what we do with it.
Contact form. If you use it, we keep your name, email address, your phone number if you give one, your message, the language you were reading in, and the time you sent it. We use them only to answer you. To limit spam we also keep a one-way scrambled code made from your network address. It can't be turned back into the address.
The Flying Spoon Frequent Flyers (our email list). If you join, we keep your email address and the language you were reading in. If you fill them in, we also keep your first name, your birthday month and what you'd like to hear about. We keep where you signed up (which part of the website, or a card or printed menu in the cafe), the date and the wording of the box you ticked. While you're on the list we also keep the date you last opened or clicked one of our emails. You only join if you tick the box. To limit spam we keep a one-way scrambled code made from your network address for one day's worth of sign-up emails; it is stored apart from your details.
Holiday orders. When you order pies or other holiday items, we keep your name, phone number, email address, what you ordered, your pickup day, any note you add, the language you were reading in, and the time you ordered. We use them to make your order and to reach you about it. To limit spam we also keep the same kind of scrambled code made from your network address. If you pay on the website, you pay on Square's secure payment page. Square handles your card details under its own privacy policy, and we never see or keep your card number. We keep a record that you paid and how much.
Lists from before this website. We added people to the Frequent Flyers list from our old website (Squarespace) and from our point-of-sale guest list (Toast), only if they had agreed to receive email from us.
We use these details to send you emails from the cafe about events, specials and news. Every email has an Unsubscribe link, and the link works from your phone with one tap. When you unsubscribe you're taken off the list straight away; we keep only your address and the date you left, marked do-not-email, so we never email you again by mistake. If you stay on the list but stop opening or clicking our emails, after two years we send you one email with a link to a “Keep me on” button. If you tap the button, you stay on the list. If you don't, we send you nothing more and delete your details three years after the last email you opened or clicked, and never sooner than a year after that reminder. You can also write to us and ask us to remove or delete everything we hold about you.
We keep what you send us in our content system and in our email inbox. Our website host and our email sender process it for us. We don't sell it or share it with anyone else.
To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, call us or use the contact form.
